Corporate Controller

The Corporate Controller is responsible for the direction of the Accounting function. Primary responsibilities include preparation of financial statements, in addition to supervision of the monthly close process, billing and collection function, accounts payable and payroll functions. The Corporate Controller will lead the team that creates and implements policies and procedures to identify, resolve and document accounting issues in addition to creating procedures to make the closing and financial reporting processes accurate and efficient.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of monthly and annual financial statements for all operating entities and the consolidated Group including a monthly analysis package of KPI's and other quantitative and qualitative data to inform leadership team and others about financial results and suggest operational activities where appropriate
  • Develop and maintain all necessary finance policies and procedures and controls as required for regulatory and compliant operations as public company preparedness, implementation, and regulatory adherence to all requirements
  • Manage Project Cost Accounting, Indirect Rates, Revenue Recognition, and internal controls
  • Provide financial results analysis for inclusion in the Board packs to the shareholders
  • Ensure all transactions having a financial impact are performed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ensure that all balance sheet accounts are reconciled monthly and assessed for recoverability and completeness
  • Ensuring all records are maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and all FAR/DFARS/Cost Accounting Standards
  • Develop, coordinate, and maintain government audit relationships (DCAA, DCMA, DFAS, etc.)
  • Develop and improve processes throughout the accounting department to improve efficiency, reduce data entry time/errors and overall improve timeliness of accounting functions.
  • Under the direction of the CFO, lead the accounting department into the completion of the annual audit process and any other regulatory compliance audits.
  • Develop and ensure effective internal controls are operative to ensure the reliability of the financial reporting system.
  • Supervise the accounts’ payable function, including allocation of costs and cohesiveness of cross functional teaming to resolve process constraints and improve efficiency.
  • Under the direction of the CFO, ensure the timely filing of sales/use tax returns, property tax renditions and the filing of related property and other taxes not performed by the outside CPAs.
  • Manage the full implementation and management of Draken accounting ERP, Deltek CostPoint

Required skills for Corporate Controller:

  • An analytical thinker with a high proficiency in business analytics; an ability to perform both high level and detailed root cause, an ability to think ahead.
  • Strong deductive problem-solving skills. Draken is a multi-entity International business with goals to expand. The controller should effectively manage growth as well as consolidation and regulatory reporting requirements for all business units.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, prioritization, and multi-tasking skills
  • Detail oriented with a strong comprehension of account relationships and reconciliations per GAAP (and IFRS preferably)
  • Experience and proficiency with Deltek Costpoint with an ability to follow the impact of a transaction as it flows through the financials and be able to articulate and understand the full upstream and downstream effects of any accounting decision.
  • Experience working through an ERP transition, build-out, or implementation
  • Advanced knowledge in the use of MS Office Suite, and comparable analytical and reporting tools
